here is my sugestion the 2 bolts right above the broken piece make a bracket that would bolt there and bolt that to your mount.

i was thinking more of clay that turns as hard as metal when dry (any idea what this is called) and would this work

I could force it into the hole, let it harden and then retap it

Stuff like "JB Weld" is nothing more than a reinforced epoxy putty. I doubt it would hold up under engine torque and vibration. I would either rig another mount, or look for a used engine case.

I have a small crack starting in the same area as well. When I tear the motor down this winter my boss is going to weld it up heavily and reinforce it using the tig method and as a precaution I will drill the stud hole deeper and tap it deeper as well.

no - money says - that will not hold --- no hard clay

these are not the best metals to weld
but -- a good welder -- can do a lot at times

I was a welder back when I was young
back then maybe rated around C+ welder today D

now my best friend today is rated as a welder A+
    they are hard to find
he would give this repair a go for you
if welded -- this is what you need -- a very good welder

fix that thing and -- Ride That Thing - Mountainman
