I am building a couple of 3-speed 36V midframe electric shifters for an elderly couple.
Blue 26" Rover for him, purple 24" for her.

    [br]His bike is done.

Just a compact little unit and some custom sheet metal work and it looks pretty ambiguous.
Just another dead quite pedal bike with an odd water bottle.

All the real weight is as low it can go but the battery is ~15# and cumbersome to unhook.
The battery can be charged in place but it can come out to store, charge or swap as well.

I left enough cable to just unlock the battery (that removable key), pull it out and rest it against it the left pedal to unhook the batteries connector.
Note the battery has an off/off switch as well.

The battery has a power indicator as does the throttle which also has an off-off switch.
Reach under the battery and you can disable power in a bit more stealthy way.

My mechanic is 6' 220# and lives 10 miles uphill from me.
He put 8 miles on it running around yesterday then rode it home.
Sitting up and no pedal help at all.
Rode it some more last night and finally put the battery on the charger @ 28 miles.

That is pretty much the worst case scenario of how far it can travel on a charge.

    1st 12 mph
    2nd 20 mph
    3rd 28 mph

Hers is in the bay now but it needs a little more custom mounting work.

    Real nice stuff, there.

I could see myself going electric at some time in the future.

    And if I do, that's a set-up that I'd consider.

For that matter, this is the sort of set-up that just might get all of those neighbors of ours who don't go anywhere except by car to reconsider and, maybe, do a bit of bicycling.

    Done and delivered.

    This is Hers

My new delivery truck worked out well with a couple of extra tie down anchors added and new straps.

    Note the little KC's Kruisers sticker in the window ;-}

Everything is interchangeable between the two, the HIS just goes faster due to the larger wheel size.

Whats their performance and range specs look like?

The specs are pretty mediocre compared to what I usually build.
    They only carry 360W @ 36V.
~20 mph for ~25 miles but the 3-speed makes them very useable at any speed or grade.

Ideal for what that customer wanted, and that's all that matters.
