Hi All,

New to the forum and will start my first build in the next month; currently researching and sourcing parts. The engine will be a locally sourced Honda GX160 clone (Thailand import from China).

I have been been researching as much as possible on the net regarding the mounting angle of these engines more than 15 degrees above horizontal. Some go kart mounting brackets are angled at 15 degrees and many users claim up to 30 degrees is trouble free when running 13-14 oz oil level.

I was researching again today and noticed one company that fits these engines with the cylinder totally upright. This would be a change of 70 degrees. The sump appears reasonably level at all mounting angles, but I am uncertain of what implications this could have medium to long term.

Are there any members who have experience with changing the mounting angle of these engines. From photos of the internals I have seen, it appears there is an oil scoop (pick up) on the bottom of the conrod.

Any imput would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers
