How do you change a spark plug wire?

I wanted to take the standard advice, and change my spark plug wire as soon as I got my kit, but I don't see that it is user serviceable. The wire is molded into the CDI. Rather than a housing that can be popped open, it looks like it's filled with a plastic resin. Very waterproof, I'm sure, but you can't get inside of it.

Is this a newer CDI design that can't be altered? If so, can you recommend specific model numbers for an upgrade?

Most of the time they screw out:

Sometimes they are glued in and you have to dig out the glue to loosen the plug wire.
