I've watched many youtube videos of motor bicycles breaking a speed limit of 45mph to 60mph. But how the heck did this guy make his bike go 85mph. Here's the video to prove it. Is it the way his body is positioned on the bike, or does he have some type of engine with a high compression and stroke rate. This is sick but crazy at the same time.

Aerodynamics helps also. The biggest thing to overcome is aerodynamics. I looked at a chart that described the pedaling effort required to obtain different speeds on a conventional bicycle. At 10mph very little effort is required to keep the bicycle moving. At 20mph 40 percent of a riders energy is pushing the wind. At 30mph 80 percent of the riders energy is pushing the wind. The current speed record for an aerodynamic shelled pedal bicycle is over 80mph. The land speed record was set drafting a race car on the salt flats and is over 150mph.

That person had to of have many scrapes and bruises to perfect that type of maneuver. And on the highway in that kind of speed without no protective gear on is basically an instant fatality.

HI, he is not on a bicycle he is riding a 1970's moped with a hotted up engine. Did anyone else notice the dump pipe? the road is downhill and, he has gearing.

It is a really cool way to reduce his drag though.

Im pretty sure the fastest a 50cc has gone on Bonneville salt flats is 160mph or so.. so he still has a ways to go.

have a great day
