how weak is bike chain

Would I be able to use a bike chain to attach a 5.5hp to my rear wheel or is it going to snap and whip up into my back causing me to need a loooooot of stiches?

May work...but a #41 would certainly work. 15 bucks for 10 feet.

Wal marts chain is junk. BMX chain from the bike shop is much stronger but it's $$$.

I like wide chain simply because you have more room for your sprockets in case it's not absolutely true and it would still roll smooth. And the thicker chain is visually stronger.

I'll use a #40 chain from Lowes if it has the clearance. That bad boy wide,man.

It's better if you can, to go with #41 or #40 chain. 5HP or more 4cycles have a LOT of torque, and using bike chain may be risky.
