Hello I am new to forums but learn quick so bear with me.
I have this old Huffy Blackwater - bought at K-mart over 15yrs ago.
After peddling it around for 15yrs and rebuilding it several times with different rims and brakes and cables and such, I got tired of peddling but needed transportation for work. I had seen someone riding an electric and my first shot at this project was to put a $400 electric front motor hub kit on the bike.
I soon learned that the batteries would not get me very far and the controller would not shut off the motor in the rain. More internet reasearch led me here and I've been lurking and reconfiguring for a couple years. Great to see others projects and get ideas and I just wanted to get the Huffy1 up here.

If the pics show up on here you can see that I refitted the bike with a skyhawk kit and recycled one of the 12v batteries from the electric kit to run some lights. Wish these kits came with an alternator since I always end-up working nights. I haven't run out of light on my 3 mile work run, but not sure how long I can actually run these two 55watt halogen bulbs on one battery charge. Tried LED bulbs but they don't throw enough light on the road ahead.

Hard not to make this post too long-winded, many battles fought to make this a winner, still more issues to confront. Hope to make some friends along the way.

Welcome to MBc, MM. Now that you have introduced yourself, be sure to read all you can, including the 'Stickies' at the top of every Forum. They contain a lot of information. For example, ‘Sticky’ by Al.Fisherman has 20 or so links to “How To…” threads, and important pages for you to follow. ‘Sticky’ by Anton "Forum Rules and Infractions” is a must read about how you are expected to Conduct yourself. However, read all of them, and be sure to use the search feature. Almost every question you might have has already been asked and answered someplace here. If you are still stumped with a certain problem, post your question in the proper Forum and I am sure you will get an answer.

It looks like you are well on your way. Your Huffy is looking very good. It seems like a good strong build. Congratulations.

Patrick
