Jury Rig spark plug gapping

ok I finally put a new plug in, its a chinese Dax one. The engine starts better, but runs like **** at high speed

(The other part of my problem is I think my oil mix was accidentally a tad too rich, and it doesn't seem to run as good as on that expensive synthetic racing oil) .

The oil part is a no brainer. But bear with me on the spark thing. I lost my gapper tool and can't remember what they reccomend, is it .035"?

Can someone give me a jury rigged gap for whatever it is? For ex. "the width of a credit card"....

thanks, Rob

when you find the measurement go to any car parts store, they have the gappers just sitting out, ask and they will even do it for you. in the 60s we used a match book cover for vw engines.

A Dime is too thick, about .058", a credit card should work, it measures .028"

The gap should be around .025'' and that's approximately the thickness of a hacksaw blade.
