Why was it recommended to not user a sprocket adapter?


If a sprocket adapters is acceptable, is there a specific size or is it the 1.5" one?

You have to measure your hub diameter before you order to get the right size. Some hubs are tapered and an adapter won't work. I should say won't work without modification.

I also think that there's enough bolted on disc brake style hubs nowadays that you could dispense with the rag-joint or hub center clamps and use a top-hat adapter for a sprocket. So to not have the worry of your sprocket interface slowly killing your spokes on the left side of the rear wheel.
