Magneto cover

I did post a similar topic couple weeks ago..but has anyone tried the copper gasket for magneto cover? ..did it help water from getting into compartment? I got stuck in the rain and magneto got wet..blew it.

I will try silicone sealer around the cover..anyone do that?

Silicone definitely works. I use Permatex ultra black gasket maker in addition to gasket material from auto zone. I still have the original magneto after so many times of being caught ina downpour.

a friend says that painting the seam with nail polish works well & can be done along the outside quickly without having to remove the cover - all colors including clear are available to match engine color too

Hi Rockjaw!

Having had a similar problem with my cover I chose to make a cork gasket. You can get the gasket material at almost any auto parts store. I also use these tools to cut and knock out the holes.
