Just installed a steel reinforced rim with 12 gauge spokes and Stop A Flat tubes - Should be the combination to avoid flats, briken spokes and bent rims - I want to ride rather than repair a bicycle.

That's great, especially on the rear, which is more difficult to change. Good quality tires goes a long way towards flat-free riding also. Personally, I love Continental Gatorbacks, they have a great tread design for the street. (virtually slick on the contact area) I've ridden 20+ miles a day for 8 months with 0 flats.
