My faithful old desk top computer of the past 6 or 7 years finally got a root virus and I just replaced it with my first lap top.

The salesman at Wallyworld said I got a great buy for $398 ... but, of course, I'd like to make sure. The specs are below. I'd really appreciate some input on whether or not this is a good deal while I can still take it back. So far I'm very happy with it but I haven't got it out of "first gear" yet.

    Compaq Presario CQ62-209WM Notebook PC
    AMD Athlon II Dual-Core Processor P320 (2.1 GHz, 1MB L2 Cache)
Genuine Windows & Home Premium (64 bit)
    3 GB DDR3 system memory
    250GB (7200 RPM) hard drive
LightScribe SuperMulit 8X DVD R/RW with double layer support
    15.6" HP brightview Led Display
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250 Graphics
    802.11b/g/h wireless LAN
    High Speed 56K Modem
    6-cell Li-ton battery
    $398 + tax

    Thanks guys.

    Looks good to me.

a hundred dollars less would be a 'great deal'.

As it is, you got an adequate deal.

    :)

Thanks Luka. This was Wally-world's cheapest laptop without going "mini" ... and the mini was still $329 ... so I thought this was the better buy.

    Does it have...

    PCMCIA slot.

    Media card slot.

    USB ports.

    Ethernet port.

    Firewire.

    External vga port.

Keyboard and mouse ports. (Could use USBs for those.)

I know it has 3 USB ports. I don't know what the other ports and slots are that you mentioned ... da ... but it has a lot of "holes" an plug - in places on both sides. I'm using it with a wireless router and it's working fine. I use my old mouse because the built in "finger pad" is too hard to get used to right now. Windows 7 is a lot different from XP too ... tough on this ol' guy's patience and nerves!
