new vs old rotors

Had time today to compare several motors to see why newer rotors have slot at about 12:30, while old rotors have it at 1 o'clock.

All motors I looked at that had unbalanced cranks had the old rotors, while all the balanced cranks had the new rotors.

Timing appears to be same however, since new cranks have their slots offset by the same amount as the new rotors, but in other direction so timing is unchanged.

Unless you feel a need to change your timing, you should NOT swap new rotors for old, as on wrong style crank, they will not time the same.
