I'm Chris from Biloxi, and I'm building my first motorized bicycle. I've got a fair amount of DIY experience (always looking for more) and am pretty good with mechanical things, but between my state's incredibly vague laws and the predator 212 hooked to a 2 speed gearbox idea I've got going, I'm not far from seeing uncharted territory. Lord only knows how much advice I'll be seeking from you guys in the future.

This weekend I've bought both the motor and the bicycle, so my receipt:cash ratio is pretty sad right now, and it's only going to get sadder as the project goes on. I figure between the fun and the fuel savings, it'll all be worth it in the end.

    Welcome aboard.

Yes. The fun and fuel savings, not to mention the lack of wear and tear on your car, make it worthwhile in the end. Sooner, for that matter.

It'll frustrate and aggravate you. At least they usually do. But if you have a fair amount of DIY experience and are always looking for more, then you're the type who can overcome this.

Plus you can find help and tips here.

    Best of luck.

I've gotten opinions from a few local cops and they all said they didn't think I would need registration, so I think I'm just going to try riding it as is until someone stops me for it.

Welcome to the forum. These bike motors are far simpler than a modern car or motorcycle, which makes troubleshooting fun and quick. If you get tired of the way your motorized bike looks, you can change it around for very little money. Look forward to seeing your build.

Have you tried a PM to Alfredart? Often local police don't know the law on motorized bicycles. Where you could have a problem is if you're ever involved in an accident. Also where one cop might not bother you another might.
