Hi, I'm looking to get a motored bike with the intention of beginning to travel on it. It's my dream to become a world traveler, and I needed a vehicle that didn't require any sort of licensing or insurance, and figured a motorized bicycle would be my best choice. I didn't notice a specific sub forums for recommendations, so should I post the specifics of what I'm looking for in here, or is there a more suitable sub-forum?

    Where are you located?
Motorized bicycles require licensing in some states and are illegal in some too.

Why do you need a vehicle that didn't require any sort of licensing or insurance?

An ebike would fit your needs but would be hard to keep charged as a world traveler.

    A bicycle? :)

I live in Georgia, USA. I know that some places do require licensing, but I figured if I could get something that's good in most places, I could manage with pedaling in the rest, maybe remove the engine and throw it in my bag until I'm in a place with fewer restrictions.
I plan on basically living off this bike while I travel, I won't have a real home, or a job. Without a steady income, I won't be able to keep up insurance payments, or update my license when need me.
I looked into ebikes for a while, but charging takes to long, and doesn't get me far enough, I would prefer the cleaner fuel source, but the tech just isn't up to par.

Welcome to the forum. In Georgia, you need a valid drivers license but I don't think it will require tag and insurance. Check the legislation subforum on this site for threads about Georgia.
When you need help and post a thread about it, you get quicker help if you include your state in the title. The first guys to respond will usually be from your state. On the other hand, members from SEC rival states like South Carolina and Florida will definitely not respond to a Georgian if they are college football fans.

:iagree: and for real world use, eBikes are a complete waste of time when it comes to the current level of technology.

    Well, I beg to differ.

    1680W 50V shifters are awesome.

But you are a guy that is gonna 'live out of his bike' with no home, money or job?

Best bet is a simple small 4-stroke like this 49cc Pantera.
You can fill it at any gas station with no need to carry oil, and they are legal in most states, even California.

The bike is about $240 plus $350 for the 4-stroke kit and that's all you need.
    Good luck on your journey.

I stand by what i have said: eBikes are a complete waste of time when it comes to the current level of technology.

That said, there will come a point in time when battery energy density per unit volume will be equivalent to the energy density of gasoline and the volume that a current motorized bicycle gasoline tank displaces.
There will also come a time when the battery pack can be recharged in the same time that it takes to fill a motorized bicycle gasoline tank.

Until that happens i stand by what i have said: eBikes are a complete waste of time when it comes to the current level of technology, at least when it comes to a serious method of long distance commuting.

Do you have a ink to where I can buy the engine kit? I'm also planning on getting a folding frame bike, so it can fit in trunks and I can hitch a ride on occasion. Know of any quality folding frames?

You won't get a 4-stroke in a folding bike, they are designed for E-bikes as they can be folded and laid down, you don't lay down gas bikes.
