Painting gas tank (smears)

Hey all..any painters in the house? I want to paint my gas tank on my bike..it looks terrible..the guy i bought it from painted it silver and the gas sometimes spills out and wrecked the paint..is there somekind of spray paint that can help save the gas from tearing it up? maybe an epoxy coat?

Yeah, fuel-proof paint. You can find it at any auto parts store.
