    I saw a groundhog yesterday.

Asked him when winter would be over and he said, "middle of May".

    Oh, mannnn............

(Yes, I stole that joke. But the guy I stole it from stole it from someone else.
So I don't feel very guilty.)

I'm afraid it's too late for that, Mountainman.

I'm well known around here for my feuds with the groundhogs.

But at least I get along with the cats and dogs.

Thinking about it a bit, I also have a big problem with those darn yellow jackets.

Makes me wonder if I really want summer to come.

Mosquitos, may-flies, 95 muggy after day after day.......

    What am I doing here?

to tell you straight out bluegoatwoods

you are suffering from a server case of groundhog abuse DENIAL

to start your recovery program as recommended by the courts
you must first of all admit to the facts

we have talked with the groundhogs
    and we believe them
    you started it....

start today by being kind to a groundhog -- don't ride those hog things !!!

    Star Noses

I can live with groundhogs ... if I have to ... it's the star nose moles that are making me think about nuking the back yard!

It's the digging, I tell you ... the digging! :stunned:

Actually they're in the front and back yards. Last summer they'd dig a long tunnel and push up a big mound of dirt. Then, I'd let the terriers out for the day and they'd dig up the mole tunnel turning it into a deep, hazardous, grassless ditch. Couldn't use traps because of the terriers.

It's not even summer yet and I think I hear the star nose moles laughing at me!

    You're right, Mikem.

Groundhogs arent' quite as bad as, say, Al Qauida, but the various moles are worse.

Let's put them all in Guantanamo and withdraw to a just-off-shore quarantine and let the Castro brothers worry about them.

Sounds like a pretty good solution to a few different problems.

But now I'm starting to get way, way off-topic. So I guess I'll withdraw for a bit. See you all in some other threads.

If you're gonna cook a groundhog, wait till late summer or fall. By this time of year metabolic toxins that accumulate during hibernation are high, and the meat is pretty tough and stringy. You want a fat one about ready for winter.
