I have a department-store MTB, and a couple of Curry PMDC 600 watt motors, but only one 12 volt "Stinger" SLA to power them(not interested in LiPO!!);any1 have a practical voltage multiplier schematic/circuit to power these 24 volt PMDC motors for a "DIY" hybrid motored MTB???

T I A for any/all replies!

theres nimh and nicd too, dont forget. forget sla. and doubling the voltage only places even more load on the battery...

agreed.. DC/DC converters are also wastefull and not very common or cheap when you size them up for the amps needed for that motor...

if you need 24v, best to get a proper 24v pack.

There are alternatives to lipo ( RC stuff .. aka : dynomite ) .. you can get Lifepo4 like headway cells for example that are reasonably affordable and easy to build into a pack.

or just get a few 12v SLA's but they tack on the weight..
