Just finished installing a dual start HT engine on a bike...The engine starts and runs fine as long as you pedal start it...The recoil starter is almost impossible to pull. I assume because of high compression and the small diameter of the recoil starter unit. I thought of trying to drill and tap the head for a compression release valve.....Or should I just live with the situation? I use to wonder why these starters were not more I see why. Always expect the Unexpected.

How new is the engine? They get easier to start after they are broken in.

The engine is new and not broken in yet.

I've never had an issue with pull starting, one or two good firm yanks on the cord and she starts right up.
