question about no spark possib elect issue

    my bike satfor over a year cause i needed a new rim but got anew bike instead an put many mods on since an just now get it ready to ride an wont start seems like no spark i checked anit didnt shock me but my coil worked just fine before it sat could anything else explain why it wont run now? urgent before i waste money on coil possib. thanks

    use a meter to check the coil

    coils come in 3 types, but I doubt you'll have the old 250ohm coil

    put your multimeter on ohms (2K scale or lower) and measure between the blue wire of the coil to ground (or black wire) - it should read within 40ohm of either 350 or 450 (only the newest coils are 450ohm coils)

    i tested my coil an my ohms meter read off nothing i think its safe to say my coils shot

    there is a soldered connection at the top of the coil that sometimes goes bad, but can be resoldered

    try to test from the blue wire to the tiny bit of copper wire at the top of coil - if it reads good there, you can resolder that connection
