Right/Left hubs, Staton and Grubee the only options?

I've found the Staton and the Grubee hubs so far. I'm not sure I can justify the $120(incl ship) Staton unit considering it's literally twice the price of the Grubee. The Staton does look like a much better unit and it has some really good reviews on here but I'm thinking about modifying a flip-flop hub to accept a left hand freewheel considering I'm a machinist.

Any opinions on anything I've said so far?
