Hello,
I bought a new chrome 2L gas tank
from eBay and it said that
there may be some rust
and there is really
a mild thin layer of rust inside.

Is it ok to use it that way because
I have a fuel filter anyway
Or I need to clean it and If
Yes how to do it in basic way?
Thanks, Ronen

you can leave it if you like, but if cleaning it makes you feel better there are two main ways to do it

quick and dirty way is to cram it full of gravel, shake it around so it knocks the rust off the walls, pour the gravel out, and then rinse the tank with alcohol. or you could brew some strong tea in the tank, let it sit for a day or two, then dump the tea out and rinse with alcohol.

I have a can of old nuts & bolts that I dump in with a bit of gas - shake well and dump out - a magnet gets any that get stuck inside.

Rust removal techniques vary widely, from putting gravel into the tank
to loading the tank with nuts and bolts and shaking. But luckily, there
are modern products that bring rusty gas tanks to usable condition safely.

We always worry about shaking metal screws, chains, etc in a gas tank that
has some gas, or gas fumes remaining inside.

We have found that Metal Rescue works very well, is easy to use and is
NOT flammable. It is one of several new products that clean tanks or
other rusted parts without worry.
