Good Day All!
I have recently become involved in the world of motorized bicycling. Much to my surprise it is a vast and rapidly growing market. I am planning to produce these bicycles, therefore, I am eager to learn the ropes.

Getting it right

I am preparing to start a power assisted bicycle company here in Houston Texas. I have been exploring the law as well as it's enforcement.
I have talked with my neighbor, a Houston Police officer, a local sheriff deputy and a state trouper. While knowing the actual details of the law I am finding that basically all the officers I have spoken too do not care about these types of bicycles as long as they are ridden responsibly and follow all the road rules. It is important to keep them off all roads that have a posted speed limit of 35 mph or higher. However, it is not against the law to ride these bicycles anywhere in bicycle mode (no motor running) that any other bicycle can be used. I feel the business has a shot as long as people use the bikes responsibly.
