I went on my first big ride today.
I went to the ocean and back, at least 10 + miles round trip.

It performed beautifully. I bought a much more slick tire today,
and it made it run so much better. a Forte Gotham tire (26x1.75)
only $12.99, but it's really thick.
I also used this "secondary silencer" by Jetpro for my pipe. It really
makes a big difference.
At idle, it's very very quiet.

Thoughts on the bike:
I really might get a new springy seatpost, or a gel seat because of the vibration.

I also need to get some higher bars, the MTN bike bars make me lean so far forward all the time, and I don't like it.
I'm more of an upright sitter.
I'm thinking maybe medium chopper bars, or maybe some BMX style
bars.

I'm also going to buy a BMX peg at 1.25, and make a steel drive roller.
I think the steel might perform better than my skateboard wheels
style scrubber.

I'm so happy with the way this has turned out.
I just need to dress it up now, with paint,
and a fender to really make it nice.

She's a good cruiser at 20mph, but when I open her up on the flats, it
just zips right along.

This might become addicting......

 Too Late!!!!
you are hooked!!:LOL::p

sounds like your skateboard wheel roller is doing well.
wondering as to how well it grips the tire & any noticable wear on the tire or the roller??

have you given thought to adding a seat....so sotawhnn can ride with ya?? ;)

Man, The baby ape would love to go one rides with me!
I'll actually just let Papa and son go out for rides, that would be hilarious...

(for those of you who think I'm crazy right now,
we're just talking about some ape robots I made in my rock band of robots)

There seems to be some wear on the tire, but not much
after the ride today.
The roller seems to have very little wear as well.

I still think that steel might be the best bet,
It might be that the skateboard wheel is wearing the tire
more than needed, but time will tell.

have you been on any wet roads yet?

this could be ground-breaking..... find a puddle or two & let us know!! :D

the (kit) knurled steel rollers last a long time, but slip when wet. (slip baaaaad!)

Sure, it will give me an excuse to go riding tomorrow...
it's supposed to rain tonight, so I'll jump some puddles.
The weird thing is that with this new tire, I actually have less torque
because the tire height is different. I heard that the larger the tire, the more torque you'll have, correct (with no affect upon speed?)
I might have to shave the scrubber down just a little more.

If this goes as well as I think it will, and I really enjoy riding,
I might just have to switch over to a chain drive system...

Yeah, I tried to use a metal spindle goped, and when it was wet it just
slipped and slipped.

Tire diameter makes no difference in speed / torque, roller tension does. The more tension, the more tire deflection, tire deflection requires power. Too little tension, little deflection good power, eats up tire, you walk home. Somewhere in the middle I guess.

Hey Kerf, no disrespect intended but the diameter of the tire makes just as much difference as if they were cogged or toothed gears. Think of it this way, if your tire was only 10" in diameter and the drive roller was 1" the drive roller would have to rotate 10 times to every one rotation of the tire and a 20" would be 20 to 1. Right?
