Hey guys, I recently purchased a grubee skyhawk gt2 48cc engine kit, and I am not impressed with its performance. Primarily, I found that the CNS carb which came with the kit was awful, I could not set it and it leaked fuel terribly. So, I replaced it with a NT carb and noticed dramatic increase in performance Still, it dosent have the power, I know that it should have (due to rides on friends' bikes). When I engage the clutch, and rev the engine, it revs fine all the way up to its limit. However, when I try to ride it remains slow and very underpowered. I'm running on a 16:1, which other forms have told me to go to 32:1 or even 50:1 in order to get more power. I'm curious if its my ratio or carb, or something else, I have no idea at this point. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

16:1 is good for the run-in period - you won't see a lot of power (and shouldn't try to force it) until the engine has been run in

Increase the compression and jet the carb right. click on my link
