I just installed a Jaguar CDI and ignition coil on my 66cc Skyhawk motor, hoping for smoother operation and to prolong its life.

It's running pretty bad though. It will start (not as easily as before), and run, but after I bring up the RPMs, it starts cutting out badly. While driving for a minute or two, it will keep cutting out more and more until it just completely dies.

I thought it would be a direct replacement, but I assume there may be some adjusting I need to do with the carb? Could it be something else causing this?

I test my CDIs before I ship them out , up to 11,000 RPM.
It's not the CDI. Suspect the high voltage coil or stator coil. (or the plug is bad. or the spark plug cap is not fully screwed onto the wire)

also coincidences do happen that lead your mind down the wrong path.
Example; you install something innocuous like the hardware that keeps the muffler from vibrating and then when you ride it the power is down and out. Well, the motor gremlins just happened to let some trash slip past the fuel filter and partially clog your jet in the carb resulting in the bad running. s**t happens
