SoCal Motor Bicycle Racing Sat Oct 22nd 2011 Grange Racetrack

I can tell you what Iv'e used in the past.
Death Race 2011, I ran the Swalbe 'Kojak' wore through them during the race, I literally could see through the rubber.
Willow Springs 2011, I ran the Michelin 'Pilot Sport' I didn't wear through these but they got real 'slippery'
The Grange 2011, I am going to try the Maxxix 'hookworm' after having all of these tires in my hands the hookworms have the most rubber where it needs it most, on the sides, I've spoken with many racers about tire choice and hopefully these are the ones to use.
personally I feel the tires are what will hold the MBs back until a manufacture designs a tire specifically for us.
as far as psi? I just fill the tire until it feels right

What kinda skins you runnin I like brick pattern 40psi.

I like tread that rounds over to the side wall and soft rubber-but 40psi is the max for my Duro brand 2.125 the rolling resistance is up there but they cornered good at Willow Springs so I got a new pair for Grange 'O'ya there cheap to! and so am I.
GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR TIRES!! I'll see you at Grange.

Yessir, going to be a great event. I'm trying to bring a few new entries with me to Grange. The more, the better for all classes. It was really cool at Willow with serious racers and casual riders in the same race. The track was large enough to spread the bikes out and not get in each other's way, and the right length so not too many got lapped. The longer track will be even more geared to our event. Can't wait to either lead, follow, or get out of the way.

Hay off topic do you know if Speed Racer ever found out that Racer X was his brother ?
Still working on that cdi-what an education that has been -I find the MB hobby leads off in strange side streets what's next chemistry?
It will be a blast racing the new mods and seeing if they work out well enough to justify the effort-technical improvement come out of racing as do memory's and friendships
I'll see you in the pits

A special event at the Encino Velodrome has been in the works
for months.

I was not going to say anything until it looked like it would be a
reality but as culvercityclassic made a post about it today I might as
well announce the plans that I have been discussing with the president
of the velodrome board and a few of the SoCal Motor Bicycle Racing
board members.

Mini bikes and RC cars have run on the concrete oval in the past but
the land is owned by the Army Corp of Engineers and they stopped
any motorized event at the track because of liability reasons.

I said we would provide a 5 million dollar liability policy named to anyone
who was at risk.

The president of the Encino Velodrome has submitted plans to the
Army Corp of Engineers to approve a motorized bicycle event there.
He said it is a long process and he had not heard back about having
a swap meet approved for many months and was still waiting for approval
on that event.

Anyway the bottom line is that I am waiting to hear back and will update
you all when I do.

Here's a pic from back in the 60's from before the track was renovated.

"O" that's a different MB build to say the lest-a tracker or maybe an old light weight Cannondell with 19mm.700mm. rimes and 23mm. 110psi. tires a thumb throttle 66cc.RAW high ported with short head tube big chambered 5* top spark timing and a 30t rear gear $700+ easy and that's at scrooge and hunt prices!
So how much time do we have to build 6Mo. a year? don't get me wrong I love a challenge but that's a horse of a different color like speeds reaching 50mph. with two strokers DUDE off the hook crazy!!!
Hope I can pull it off

Hey Dave
I have no idea how long it will take to get approval from the
Army Corp of Engineers or if it will be approved at all.

Our buddy dand told me about mini bikes racing on a velodrome
right after the Willow Springs race and I got right on it to have
a motorized bicycle event there.

I really hope that they agree as running around a banked velodrome
would be way too much fun!

The only other velodrome I know about in the country is
"The Thunderdrome" in Michigan which had some motorized bikes
racing along with bicycles to motorcycles.

Check them out at Thunderdrome.org I like their style and home
grown no nonsense racing fun.

The Encino Velodrome only races bicycles right now and they may
have some motorized pacing bikes? Bicycles with motors seem to
be in the spirit of the Velodrome and it would be a fantastic event.
