we got a "new to us" muti tool lathe/milling device at work
as a project to learn about how to use it we knocked out a rear sprocket centering tool from a piece of 1.5" HDPE plastic rod that was lying around
machined to OD 1.45" center hole .375" (Fits bike axle and rear sprocket supplied with kit)
inserted in hole over axle- as i tightened on the sprocket, continuously checked the fit of the centering tool - if it bound up i would tighten the other side
essentialy just a special sizde rod with a hole in the center
seems to have like a charm
