I am planning on ordering a 80cc (69.7) skyhawk, and im looking to get a top speed of over 40mph ideally, I weigh 140lbs and my bike is made from a lightweight alloy so it should be possible, however i need a reccomendation for rear sprocket size as i will need to replace the standard 44 tooth (30mph claim) any suggestions?

There are SO many factors when figuring gear ratio to mph, there is no guaranteed claims - just like 150 mpg is what the motor would get without a rider operating at 15-20 mph.

If you want to considerably surpass 40, you'll want to get a shift kit.

If you're wanting to just increase speed, then I'd suggest going no less than 36. 36 should be able to get you around 35 - 40 if you're pedaling at peak wheel rpm.

Okay, can you link me to a 36t that will fit on a standard mountain bike? (a fairly cheap one)
