I scored a 25 cc weed whacker motor a little TLC ( fuel bulb, new fuel line, hose out the carb ) and it'll run fine. The question is what will give less wear and tear on the motor bump start or pull start ? BTW it came out of a Homelite and has John Deere markings on the label and " made in Mexico " ???????????? No pics till tuesday. I do belive it does not have a clutch. Any thoughts ?

Thanks Red

I think you need a weedwacker w/clutch

A friction drive with a handle that lifts the engine off the wheel will be its own clutch.

As for starting, I'm not sure that there is a longevity issue either way, but bump starting means less parts to go bad.

well this is the first one soooooooooooo....... less parts ? ( especially pull start ) so be it .......... now to fabrication.......... Thank You Gentlemen
