Trike Report---Update

sorry to get off topic. Do they make tires that are 3 inches wide for a 26'' rim? I haven't seen any yet.

the 3rd pic is a close-up of the Gobby trike rear, with the 48 tooth sprocket added to the hub.

Davo, where did you get the sprockets for the rear end and are they the 415 chain or 420?
Great job

Change of tac

Please forgive me but your trike made me think of my mate Phil who turned up at my house about ten years ago. On his way over to my place he stoped at some lights on his Kwaka ZXR. An old guy pulled up the other side of the lights on an old Brit twin, and went over. Phil shot across the light to help him, but when he got there he was in fits of laughter, still with the bike on top of him. After he helped him up the chap explained. " I always wondered what this would be like to ride without the sidecar, I forgot to put my feet down". Tis the truth, you couldn't make it up.

Thanks guys.

Great story Pete. I'll hafta keep that in mind, as I want to put my feet down with the trike!

Doc, the rear sprockets...the 2 small ones are the standard trike sprockets. the large one is a kit sprocket. I attached it by drilling a 1 & 1/2" washer to match 3 holes on the sprocket.....then welded the washer to the hub & bolted the sprocket on.

chain size??? the 48cc kits I use come with a chain thats just a wee bit larger than a one-speed bicycle chain. the only comparison I've done was with a couple of Kings 80's in town and their chain was much wider. I do have 2 widths of front engine sprockets. the narrower one (which I use) will fit a bicycle chain.

With the birth of my trike,

Russian powered trike

I swapped engines on the trike. I think I finally have all the bugs out of this Russian engine.

It runs about 20mph. plenty, imo :)

I'm getting more comfortable/confident on cornering. Still gotta be careful.

next?? cargo box

the trike looks good, and im sure the bike dosen't weight that much so cornering is a little ez to tip over. good job srdavo 8) l like the old school pic that you post of the trike, makes it look like it was the 60's
