I personally have not upgraded my friction engine. I have had no need to. What are all the upgrades available for the chinagurls? What does all the upgrades cost. I have a golden eagle and haven't experianced any problems besides a loose chain here and there. I only have a few hundred miles on it. What upgrades would you recommend i invest in? Its been raining alot and im gonna start riding my chain drive more to work and back. I would like it to be at its peak performance. thanks for your input!

There are a number of useful upgrades for the China-Girl engine - some that you can buy and some that require your own skills to be used in modifying existing parts; some of these modifications are a tightly kept secret by those in the know, but for an exorbitant fee i'm prepared to let you in on a few secrets, classified "Secret", but not "Top Secret"...

The best bang for your buck, would be to match the ports and an expansion chamber.

As was said above, there are a lot of little things you can do that will help a lot. I start with the intake, I use my pneumatic die grinder with a carbide rasp to remove all the excess weld and open the flange to match the port on the cylinder as much as possible. While I have the intake off I make sure the piston skirt clears the port fully at top dead center, most newer engines do but some need the piston skirt trimmed. I do the same port matching on the exhaust also. Make sure to open up the gaskets to match. A sbp air filter is much better than the stock filter with the little piece of foam. A good spark plug wire with a high quality end and a good plug. Ngk plugs work well. Get the carb tuned to your engine by doing plug checks.

The needle shouldn't need to be changed unless it has only one groove for the e-clip. The needle e-clip position is use to lean or richen the air to fuel mixture up to about 3/4 throttle. The leanest position is at the top, each position down raises the needle out of the jet a little faster to increase the amount of fuel mixing with the air passing through the filter into the engine. The size of the main jet controls the mixture at wide open throttle since the needle will be fully out of the jet.
