What's up with all my failed rubber parts???

I bought my '05 Whizzer used with 22 miles from a man located north of Atlanta in the North Carolina Mountains. No salt air, normal temperatures and stored indoors.

Many of the rubber parts on my engine have tears, or tore when I handled them during my lifter swap-out. For example, my plug boot tore the first time I pulled it from the plug. All the rubber and plastic hoses show cracks and need to be replaced. I'll later post a pic of a very small rubber part that fell off the engine that I cannot locate where it came from.

The bike had definitely been ridden for only 22 miles. Cosmetically it is near perfect and the oil that I drained out of it looked like it could have gone right back into the motor.

    Is anyone else seeing this?

    re: rubber part

It's probably the rubber holder for the CDI ,looks like a relay just under and behind the ign switch.they all rott ,lousy rubber.
