Pictures of motorized bike projects and bike builds. Vote for the best build!
Here's a fun little topic, we get to see more pictures. The way it works is, the poster, (me) post a picture of my bike with some item. Then the challenger post a picture of their bike with the same (very similar) item. Then the challenger post a second picture of their bike with a new item for the next challenger to match. My first one I'll make easy my bike and a car. GO!

Hi, It started out as a Huffy Beach Cruiser that I bought at a Thrift Store for $15 and it kind of got out of control from there. The fuel tanks are old pump style fire extinguishers from the early 1900's and has kersone lanterns from the late 1800's which have been bulbed and wired for light along with sirens from the 50's that run off a 6 volt battery and Power Wheels motors. The sidecar started life at another Thrift Store as a pull behind cart that a small child would ride in behind a parents bike and it went from there. The sidecar frame is wooden covered with canvas and sealed. I don't know why I built it except just to see if I could and with a lot of trial and error I got what you see. My Very First motorcycle show I went to I...
Started the new bike build. Went with the new style Cranbrook and will be doing a ton of mods. Already cut of the stock dropouts and welded on some horizontal dropouts in their place. Working on running the electrical and cables in frame. Shortened the seat tube 1" at the clamp. Plan to add some bracing in a few places. And of course an in frame tank is in the works. Going to use the case reed again but I'm rebuilding it with some mods and upgrades.
It's time.:devilish: Building mini choppers and 2 1/2 years of dabbling with MB's It's time for me to combine one sport bike with another. I've spent 3 weeks working on a frame to fit a 6 ft. adult rider. I saw this frame design a year ago and couldn't stop thinking about it so I gave it a whirl. Not as easy as I thought. In tradition of keeping a radical bicycle look, the frame is designed with a single down tube. Of course keeping a peddal drive train. (different than my mini choppers) Im going with a 45 to 47 deg. rake, with a 24" 72 spoke front wheel. Chrome billet forks. I'm not building the rear frame until I find the ultimate 11"wide x 23"tall rear tire/rim combo. The head frame is bowed, to accept any engine...
Related to this post: https://motoredbikes.com/threads/preparing-a-new-build-on-a-schwinn-stingray-chopper-and-im-looking-for-some-advice.50872/ Donnor bike: Since this is not being an standard build (as expected) I'm going to describe how I'm solving the issues that I'm having, I hope it will be useful for someone. First thing, choosing the motor kit: after digging and asking around I decided to go for I ordered this kit: http://www.bicycle-engines.com/49cc-4G-T-Belt-Drive-Complete-Gas-Powered-Engine-Kit.html I didn't know if to get the 100 or the 80 tooth pulley, I asked on the chat that they have and.... I believe the person behind didn't know much about what she was talking about... I asked which configuration will be faster and...
Hello all, Been lurking in the shadows for a while, finally got inspired by all of the great work on this site to attempt my first build. The plan was to build my modern interpretation of a boardtracker, almost as if what I thought the guys would be building if they were still racing them today. I still have a lot of work to do before its under power but have been rolling around on it in the shop, can't wait for the motor noises to be "real" haha!! Well anyways here it is, hope you enjoy... Some specs: custom frame & tank, raw 80 cc, king top hat adapter & 34t sprocket...... Need to fab mount for rear disc caliper & install petcock in tank after that I'll be pretty close to assembling for a test run. I plan to ride it as is for a...
g'day all, this is what I've been working on for the last six months, just put it together and got it running. I'll pull it down at some time and give it some paint, kinda like how it looks as is. Frame is hand made all new steel, fillet brazed. Heaps of hand made custom parts, very few stock bits on the bike. 80cc Motor has been ported and the head shaved, custom inlet and exhaust manifolds, goes very well. 'hillbilly' Steve. now the pics....
This build is kinda odd for me. I typically don't start any project with all new parts. Most of my stuff is but with old junk and some new stuff. That's how I picked the screen name. My last bike (first MB) was fun but had all kinds of problems with the Seeutek. Bearings went, then it broke a ring, next was wrist pin bearing failure that cracked the piston dome and then the final catastrophic lean the took out the entire top end which was caused by a broken carb. The bike itself also had issues with the derailleurs and brakes due to riding in the winter. Needed a repaint as well. Fvck that. This time I'm starting new. So.... I decided this bike was going to be a single speed cruiser with disc brakes to solve my biggest issues with the...
G'day, just about completed another BTR build, got a little more to do, but with the interest in BTR's , thought I'd share it with you. Started out with a frame from a disposable MTB, found in the hard garbage collection. Cut an' shut it a little, fillet brazed and hand filed. Forks are cut down 28' blades with a custom made crown and reinforcements. Fitted up a big bore HT China motor that I fettled for a little extra go on custom solid mounts. Made a tank out of some 1mm mild steel, lead soldered, the filler is out of 3/4 brass plumbing fittings, turned and knurled on the lathe+ a vintage brass tap. Still needs some more details finished, exhaust is to be extended out the back with a muffler and fish-tail. Sounds phat with the...
Okay, This project isn't near finished yet but I have been taking pictures at just about every step of the way. Heres a list of features that are going to be included on this build: -Mongoose XR-75 dual suspension MTB, aluminum frame, steel rear triangle. -Staton NuVinci drive with Mitsubishi TLE43 engine, half-lever left hand throttle/killswitch , right side NVshifter. Torsion bars. -center handlebar mounted digital speedo. -left handle bar end nashbar convex mirror. -New aluminum nashbar Jaws pedals. -double thick and slimed Bell innertubes -Bell kevlar lined 26x1.75 road tires (thin but should allow this thing to be pedaled if need be.) -Bottle and cage for extra fuel -Bell comfort Gel seat (black) -Finished and painted Staton...
hey guys have finished another custom lowered and stretched bike. started with a Phoenix Bike Works frame, the bike to start with is alow rider stretch set-up for gas engine. we modded the rear frame to fit the 24 x 4 1/4 fatty tire with an 80 mm wide rim, relocated the seat post and lowered it too. standard typer chopper forks with disc brakes, drag style bars and finnally a 1000 watt electric drive kit with rear disc brake. enjoy the pics.
I finished up my bike this past weekend. Schwinn Stingray bike w/my black paint job and varnish. DAX 70cc Engine Kit Motor mount from barry0070_70_0 on eBay. Livefast Motors Sprocket Adapter (eBay also) 44t Sprocket Modified seat to sit farther back. Bent exhaust w/MAPP gas. Schwinn Speedometer from Target. Chrome tank mounted with L-brackets. The bike rides pretty nice. I'm really surprised that the cheap chinese motor works so well. I bought a new Schwinn fork with brakes which should be arriving soon. It should greatly improve my stopping power. Seat mod is here.. http://www.chopperbicycle.net/forums/showthread.php?t=3027&highlight=stingray The seat isn't nearly as strong as it used to be, and the back part isn't stable if...
hello boys and girls. new to the board (see attached intro) i just recently took my first motorized bicycle for its maiden voyage. i picked up a kit for $80 (canadian) and the bike started life as an old girls ross compact. we did some frame modifications and i've started a stainless tank (still to be completed) this is a small bike (COMPACT FRAME) 24" wheels. i've replaced the throttle with a standard brake lever. i mounted the stock tank to get it running, but i'll finish the inframe tank soon enough. anyway, not sure on the rules about vid's but heres a vid (hosted on photobucket) of the little indians first ride. (feel free to remove it if i'm breakin the rules) didn't want to beat on her too much till i work...
It has been quite cold so I haven’t been riding my latest full suspension rig a whole lot, but I am very satisfied with it and I am continuing improvements and refinement. I have a simple but excellent 12V lighting system, with bright lights front and rear. Yesterday I completed my brake light, rigging a bright red led to a simple 12V battery pack (4 AA batteries) to a simple switch attached to my rear brake lever. I soldered a metal spring and attached it to the throttle body with a small zip tie. I soldered a small metal washer and attached it to the brake handle. Another zip tie leads the washer to the spring when I squeeze. Simple and effective. My financial situation is expected to be much better next year and my thinking is to...
This is the Sachs-engined Mongoose comfort bike I commute on. Sachs sold off it's division that makes this kit, a German bike company called Hudson now manufactures it, and there is a Taiwanese clone (many parts are interchangeable) called pro-Rotary. It complies with restrictions that apply in Europe, Australia, and I believe Canada, that primarily dictate 200W max output, which is about what an average person can produce. But as we all know, not all the time! 200W gets you about 30km/h.
My lohmann nolonger runs. It was in perfect running condition on a beautiful old bicycle. I have good memories of riding with it running . I put this combo together in 1982. It was very low powered, wouldn't push me up a hill without help. I really liked it being sort of a diesel. I stored it in a friend's barn. While I was on a year long trip, the barn burned down and melted alloy parts off the motor and ruined the antique bicycle it was mounted on. I kept the remains hoping to someday find replacement parts. No luck sofar. I had an ownersmanual as well, it totally burned up in the fire. The bicycle was british racing green, with a Hong Kong Bicycle co. decal, a front hub generator, rod brakes, and a 3speed rear hub with a coaster...
Detail: Removable fenders on stock TREK CNC bike. Stock 26 x 2.25 Bontrager tires. Aluminum port side-rail added to hang TREK carry bag; illumination carried but not installed until needed. I sold this beauty of a bike and the engine; could not bear to ruin the CNC. Only 200 sold in US. So! Bought recumbent to power with Tanaka PF3300 engine (need a bit more power to get up hill to house) with current GEBE kit. Works like a charm.
I normally don't build on ~$150 wally world type bikes but this caught my eye. http://www.walmart.com/ip/39801995?wmlspartner=wlpa&adid=22222222227030299476&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=51487321352&wl4=&wl5=pla&wl6=105949407872&veh=sem The 'tank' is two pieces of pressed formed sheet metal that butt together in the middle via 2 struts attached to the frame via cut outs, two screws on each side plate, and top mounting hole to strut between the split top bar. I thought I'd see if I can make it wide enough to get a filler and petcock on it and seal it up like Sportsman does. I made new inner struts to widen the front 7cm wider and the rear 3.5cm wider. NOTE: flattening the front struts V mount out straight gives you the back strut. That...
Ok, so I see everyone building their bike I figured I'd start my own build thread in hopes that I can get some good feedback and if anything ideas on where to go with everything. Here is a pic of the jig I setup and the bike sitting in roughly the place it will stand once done. This is a one off build and will be built with chromoly tubing, a pit bike engine, and a jackshaft assembly similar to what I have seen on the motopeds.com build and sickbikeparts jackshaft setup. What I have on order that should be here in a few days: exhaust, handle bars, sprockets for wheel and jack shaft, and disk brakes. What I have now: head tube, wheels and tires, engine, seat, track ends, throttle, carb, (air filter on order). What was custom made: the...
