My brother and I love to ride our motored bikes when we get together. We live about 100 mile apart, so it isn't as often as we'd like. A couple of weeks ago we decided to ride down to a local brewery in Olympia, WA. We parked our two bikes just outside the front window and ordered up a couple of pints as we sat near the window. It was a beautiful day and lots of people were walking past. Nearly everyone stopped to look at the bikes. A few even came inside to inquire about them. After a couple of pints, we took the backroads home. These things are a blast to ride!
Well slowly but surely the thing is coming together. I did not like the seat (1st pic) position so I tried a laid back post. This made the seat too high. Off to Lowe's to get some pipe from the plumbing section(Lowe's sells more bike parts than you think) Now the seat is in a great location and it kind looks like it's floating.(pic 2) Next was the brakes. 2 into 1 lever and install the brakes. Still need to be balanced. They were squealing when I went for a ride yesterday. Also added a a double kick stand . Big Difference. I will be ordereing my motor mid September. So my focus is on getting the bike right, before I install the motor thanks for Looking Scorpio
ok well here it is im new to the forum and the bike isnt quit finished yet though I am expecting maybe this weekend it will get started up for the first time. Only thing stopping it right now is to chop down the drive shaft and to give the guide tube a propper bend to allow it to still spin without any problem. Note though as being the prototype one cant peddle it in this setup you will see in the following pictures. Also it still needs breaks figured I should mention that haha. But anyways this is it so far
I've got a couple weeks off work and decided to throw some of my spare vintage bike parts together.I'm thinking about putting a small motor in this frame (not sure what yet) It's a 1920's HP Snyder frame with a 1936 Schwinn fork 1960's Schwinn rear wheel with a 2 speed kickback rear wheel.and 1960 schwinn crank. Also have a matching front wheel and white wall tires.
Hopefully this is the right place to start this thread. I am building a bike that was inspired in part by the bike in this post here, and also the bikes here. However, I am not trying to build a complete replica, just something with that kind of flavor. Here is what I have so far: 1950 Columbia 5-Star Superb frame (early Columbia WWII bikes had the curved bottom bar like mine, most had a straight bar, but again I am not being exact). Correctish fenders that are a little dented up. WWII Army surplus handlebars (the item that basically started this project off) Old olive drab canvas handlebar bag Reproduction Columbia rear rack (not found on army bikes, but needed to hold the....) Old olive drab canvas saddlebags Old olive drab...

My latest ride, see below. Used it today to get 2 propane tanks filled and a 25 lb. bag of chicken food. It uses a Dax 49cc Titan engine with a jackshaft. Can pedal, motor or both. Pretty darn fast when not loaded, and very capable of carrying a heavy load. They guys at the feed store liked it. I'll be bringing it and my motorized Raleigh 20 to the gathering in Longview on Labor Day weekend. http://www.outsideconnection.com/gallant/hpv/mblue/P1010001.jpg http://www.outsideconnection.com/gallant/hpv/mblue/P1010002.jpg http://www.outsideconnection.com/gallant/hpv/mblue/P1010003.jpg http://www.outsideconnection.com/gallant/hpv/mblue/P1010004.jpg http://www.outsideconnection.com/gallant/hpv/mblue/cargo.jpg Just finished a full writeup...
