heres my shindaiwa motorized bike.i could only get 1 pic to upload will try more later.i built this for about 150 bucks wich is kinda high coulda done it cheaper.but i cant say enough about these shindaiwa engines.man i beat the *%^$ out of this engine and it hasent died in im guessing well over 1000 miles.starts 1 or 2 pulls every time and does about thirty mph.
This is my first build, so far I have built a custom air filter, have posted info elsewhere about it (search nothing fancy air cleaner). Also have modified the exhaust pipe (removing the baffle) hopefully going to fit a mini moto exhaust pipe to it. This was made for my college project. I'm so happy with it! The bikes an aluminium frame with a front disc brake and front suspension. Its very light and wheelies without much effort! But then again I'm only 16 so dont weigh as much.
Dax motor, two years old, has plenty of miles, mounted on a Trek 930, which was my wedding present back in 1990 from my wife. The bike had a ton of miles put on it in the mountains before the motor, wore through a bottom bracket, a derallieur and even a metal water bottle cage. Then I put a motor on it.... I have been wailing around on this thing, and have completely freaked out all the SUV drivers. The bike now has a sticker on the rack "One Less SUV"... So far, I'm the only one around here with this. I have seen one rear mounted weed wacker rig, but that was awhile ago. I must say though that having a motor on my bike has made me a better city rider. You have a bit more negotiating power. Top speed is maybe 30. Maybe 35. At...
This is my third bike that I have made, these are addicting. They sure get easier to put together as I go. I like the green color, the bike is a "Moon Dog", and cost $100 at walmart. I got the engine kit and a lot of useful information and help from mike at www.simpsonmotorbikes.com I will be road testing this one tomorrow, if the weather is as nice here as it was today.
Im new to motor bikes, was laid off at the time and needed something to do, so i built my first bike. old chopper style, and i added a bar to hold the clutch lever, like a suicide shift, need to add some brakes up front the rear coaster just doesnt cut it. links http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg228/tones6489/bikejpg.jpg and http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg228/tones6489/bike2jpg.jpg hopefully that worked. tones
Right now I am building a chopper with a 5 hp briggs. The left side will be belt drive and then pass through a bench grinder "jackshaft" to the right side where it will be chain drive back to the 6 gears on the bike. A hand clutch will engage/disengage the belt. I am hoping for it to be very fast. I am almost done welding the frame.
For those of you who are interested, here are some progress pics of the vintage/boardracer style bike iRide is building. I mostly just worked on the tank today... Well i finally got the frame back with the mounts put on the way i wanted ..then had to wait for a chain and new exhaust to come in ... But here she is .... I got to get some other things put on like mirrors/lights and a front brake but its beating peadaling everywhere.. http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f210/fagan420/604246-R1-19-17A_013.jpg http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f210/fagan420/bikesideleft.jpg http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f210/fagan420/604246-R1-19-17A_013.jpg http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f210/fagan420/bikehome.jpg http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f210/fagan420/HarleyPose.jpg The front and rear mounts....rear mount is really fuzzy http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f210/fagan420/frintmount.jpg...
Just wanted to make my first post in here, and say hi! I've been looking at motored bikes for the past few years, always wanting to build one. Only recently did I take on the task... My nephew donated a broken down Schwinn OCC chopper to the cause, so it was time to take on the challenge. ;) Being low on "extra" money, I decided to make is a "Project Zero" in the spirit of a few r/c builds I and others have done on scale4x4rc.us That is, zero money spent on the build. I guess I should say though, that I've got a relatively large pile of parts in the yard, from various atvs, dirtbikes, motorcycles, and bicycles. Rather than post the entire build here, I'd rather link to it on our other site if that's ok? Here's some pictures of it in...
I'm finally getting around to uploading my bike pictures. I use them both to commute to work 20miles round trip each day (hence all the dirt and grime). I have a Giant Rincon with a Dax70cc. This is my second dax motor, I lost the first at 350miles, but now have over 400miles on this one. The other bike is a Mongoose/Currie CR24V450 electric. It's nice to ride in the summertime when you can get better power out of the batteries, but it tops out at 17mph, and well... batteries weigh a ton an wear out quickly.
I was trying out some engine turning on my new kit from Dax. This is a 65cc econo kit on an old bike someone gave me, I will do the paint and the like later. I am going to use a drop down tank, and some comfort bars. Let me know what you think? Have fun, Dave
Here's my bike! :D http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w208/VicXsaN/R32047-2.jpg http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w208/VicXsaN/R32041-2.jpg http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w208/VicXsaN/R32046-2.jpg http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w208/VicXsaN/R32042-2.jpg http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w208/VicXsaN/R32043-2.jpg http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w208/VicXsaN/R32045-2.jpg http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w208/VicXsaN/R32044-2.jpg I'm thinking of making another tank that will sit where the tankplate is! And all of the wires, that needs it, will be shortened!
Hey All, took me a few hours longer than expected but here it is. Went fairly smoothly. I'm not 100% happy with the front mounts so will keep an eye on it very closely over the coming weeks. Started first go - well second go with a bit of choke adjustment - didn't need it apparently. Choke off is "down" right?. Pics from all angles with chain guard on and off. Problem it's bloody raining all week here in Sydney so I gotta pick my times for test rides. Cheers, Nick
Heres a picture from my 1st ride from South San Jose CA to some ponds about 20 miles away. The 40 mile ride went perfectly. The bike was crusing at 23mph and toped out at 27. The engine was running very rich on the top end even with the needle all the way down. Since it was running rich, I almost emptied the tank on the ride. When I got home I noticed one of the rear engine mount studs broke. I will repair that. I also mounted up a walbro carb on a custom manifold. I need the low/high adjustment needles and also dont want to worry about float bowls overflowing or leaking. The tuned pipe worked well, the thigh area never got too hot to touch with a bare hand but I bet a bare thigh might be a different story. There was a decent amount of...
