Well this morning I did it, I finally finished my first build. It is a Western Flyer Special Edition. It was an old bike that I loved, but due to the hills in Burlington Vt and how heavy a bike it was I didn't ride it much, but now with the addition of a 50CC HT motor I will be riding it lots! Everything with the build went smoothly enough, but there where a few hickups The first one happened before I even got the motor...I was riding the bike to work when the sidewall of my tire went and the tube EXPLODED (sounded like a gun shot) and sadly my local bike shop didnt have any other white wall tires in stock, so for the sake of getting the bike built I settled for a mountain bike tire (it will be replaced with a white wall soon)...
Well, I decided to try out the new Hua Sheuy or whatever it's name is. I looked on the "Wall of Shame", for a bike that the motormount would fit without modifacation, and this lil former tank-bike, a Western Flyer, I think fit the bill! I screwed this lil bike together from parts lying in the breezeway work area. 2 or 3 yo wheelset with good new Cheng Shin "City Riders" or something. 44th sprocket, heated and bent Grube crank, Viscount saddle with old 5/8 in clamp on top, orig backrack, and I had to remove the chainguard. Bike runs good, accelleration is good, engine braking very nice for a auto-clutch. Gearbox has a significant whine which will supposedly decrease as it breaks in. I have no speedo, (yet) I will mount a Whizzer...
Hey guys, I bought a West Coast chopper off craigslist for 60 bucks with the intent of putting a Harbor Freight 79cc Motor on it. Well the motor was just built the wrong way for the bike. The rope start was in the way of the pedals no matter where you placed the motor, the motor wouldn't sit level....etc. So discouraged and slightly angry, thinking I had waisted 60 bucks, I started playing around with a few other motors. Well, wouldn't you know it, the HuaSheng motor that EZ Motorbike uses is our kits, fit almost perfect. I started with the mounts. I had to make some extensions to fit the long frame, out of some steal I got from Ace. Once I made my arms, I drilled and tapped the mounts to attach them. Once my arms where in place, I...
Hello once again to everyone out there. Demon Speed back once again with more questions, also thanks again to everyone out there for giving me feedback on my chopper build. So,i shall just get right to it then. On the frame mounted engine the positive and negative wires that come off the stator plug into another set of wires going into cdi box and then last but not least, the spark plug wire which comes out of cdi and plugs onto spark plug. With the pocket bike engine the wires that come off the stator are the two wires that run everything lights, blinkers, electric start,etc... Since I'm not going to run lights or hook up a wire harness,do i have to plug same said two wires into anything to make the bike run? Or is that stupid? All...
Ok fellas,Demon back again with updates and more questions... I know,I know, more dam questions. Can't this Kidd give it a break? Short answer... Hell no i can't. So,let me give y'all the up dates first. I have the bike like 98% complete. The front cog has been switched out,no problem there. Just need to finish moding the teardrop tank and re bending the exhaust pipe to diy alongside the bike like i want it. Has that's all i have left to do on it. I would have taken it for a ride yesterday except for the fact that the effin thing won't start. So here is what i do know, 1 I'm getting spark. And 2 it started for a couple of seconds but as soon as the starting fluid ran out,it died and it would not start again nip matter how much either i...
hey this is my current project not quite finished, but finished enough to try out before the snow came i liked the lines of this frame, so this was a pretty simple stretch, "merely" extending the triangle i stretched the frame using some scraps of chrome stripper pole and railing as the sleeve, an attempt to keep the chrome look while not obscuring the fact that the bike has been modified
I attempted to place this lil 80cc toy on a 20 inch Schwinn Fastback to no avail, then was going to place it on a 52-53-ish Schwinn to once again, no avail (didn't want to have to modify TOO much) so after checking out some local yard sales, found this 75 Schwinn Continental (never seen a 26inch frame like this one identical TO THE 20 INCH FASTBACK LOL) for a nice price of $10 with wheels, tires, fenders, crank & chain guard, so anyways, here's the toy, still have a few bugs to work out, but so far it's a good start I think. I'm fighting the chain right now, when I try to pedal it with the clutch in, doesn't move, when I take the cover off and turn the nut with a ratchet, turns and moves fine...(plus I'm a newbie who likes the hands on...
Hello everyone:bowdown:This is my first build.. The Bike started as a Micargi Puma, but I dropped and widened and stretched it as you can see.....The tank is a 1930 British Moped tank.. 70cc Lifan auto with 12 front and 39 Rear no seat post, kicked the springer out ,cut the pedals down to 4" added 10" to rear fender for a streetsweeper look and bla bla bla Sure had fun.. hope you'all like it.... Del
Madwagons are a cheap steel frame bike made to look like old time bikes, this is the Fulsom model. Its very heavy very sturdy and easy to pedal. From what I can tell the company has gone out of business a long time ago. Anyway, I picked this one up for a mere $35, I like the frame. The engine is a 31cc ryobi weed wacker that I've put a BMX peg on and built a frame for and a gravity clutch. The stock clutch on the thing wasn't capable of driving anything but the shaft. It cruises my uneven and bumpy streets between 14 and 19 mph at about half throttle and I only need to pedal until I hit about 5mph and then I can drop the engine on the tire and give her gas. If I pedal I can let back on teh gas and everything feels like down hill...
