Thank you

Wow this modification works splendidly! I had to use your design instantly. So far two of my bikes have it installed. What a great idea. Thank you! graucho

Cool! You did yours a little differently with the mount but overall very nice.
So how about that clutch pull?

Smooth, smooth, smooth!

Smooth, smooth, smooth! About 1/3 the effort folks. No kidding. All of my rides-and future rides will have this modification. Cost me $6.45 for the sliding door roller from home depot. (you'll have to tear apart for the roller) $.49c for the adjustable break tensioner fitting, $.25c for the cable end cap (after cutting plastic clutch cable covering to length) $.15c for tiny cable end to stop cable fraying. (From my local bike shop). I had a 4 ft. piece the angled steel already. Thanks again Large! graucho

On the next installment I will do a thing on shaving!

I timed myself on my watch.
It takes me 8 seconds to completly remove my clutch cable!

I never cease to be amazed at the ingenuity here. It's a brilliant idea.

Graucho, what if you just used the adjusting screw that the clutch cable used to run through. Would it fit in the hole you turned up? Now it would have to be angled up for large's new setup.
I also noticed you have the metal bracket turned around facing out. Advantages? I'm accident prone and see my self slicing my leg on it.

Large, which cable traded places with the clutch cable? The gears or brakes? Does it matter.

I'm gonna go stare at my bike and try to guess which part you're gonna improve next.

I was looking into a choke you can operate on your handlebar but you'll need a spring and it would be too complicated...but it would be nice.
My clutch cable was originally a used brake cable from a donor bike so I bought a cable set at Wal Mart for under 5 bucks. I just trimed and cut here and there.
Believe it or not,I used the front derailier cable in the kit. The end looked a bit small but it still works in there. And the easy pull means I'm not worried about failure. And the mount was where the front derailer cable used to go. I had removed it a while back.
Sadly, nothing would interchange. I mean if I was to get stranded,I could still use the cable in my tool pouch, and would keep the cable housing.
But at this point I really don't think anything would break.

Well done Large. I may try that mod someday.

On the subject of a choke,
As my motor was not running real well I'd have to constantly choke adjust whilst riding one handed. Then the choke adjust started going loose.

I have given thought to changing the choke to a handle-bar version.
I've even got a spare set of gears ready for the task.
Just a matter of working out the way it wants to work....hmm....
(sounds of ticking wheels in my head)

However, I did make myself a choke adjuster using a vernier caliper that raised the choke
just under the cross bar, so that I could hold the cross bar between my legs
with my thumb and palm and with two fingers adjust the choke.

If you check this vid, it shows a picture of it.
The caliper cost me $3 from a shop in Australia
called The Warehouse.

I'm now thinking of ways to connect a standard bike gear changer
to the caliper setup.

CYA

Will Start.

Hey that's pretty cool! Thanks for the kind words in PM,btw.

I was thinking too that's all we really need. A bigger handle on the choke so with thick gloves you can fiddle with it without looking away from the road.

I originally had a gear shifter on my handlebar then the cable to the choke. That lever you can actually spread the handle so it's flattened out then get a brake nut with that little hole for your cable and tighten her down. Then I find that without a spring I can get to choke up but not down where I want it to be once we get it going. Then I routed it under so the cable points up. At least this way we can unchoke it while riding.
But that choke handle is on a weak pivot and I could just see that handle falling off with fatique.
I gave up with that idea for now.

Back on that clutch mod,I improved on the anti theft, especially if your bike will be unatended for a while.
Remove the clutch cable, store in your tool pouch, bring it all with you.
