Motoredbiking and the price of gas

...My big hold up now is family. It's not feasible to motorbike kids to grandma's or mom's and sporting events....

Here's just a few of the endless endless ways of traveling in style!

I so want a rickshaw. I saw some for sale on eBay but the wife keeps laughing at me when I bring it up. I tell her I'll ride her in the parades if I can have one. :D

when my granddaughters get too big for the trailer, I am gonna have to motor one of those babies (the 2nd pic )
I have already been thinking on the plan

Unintended Consequences

This will get back on board topic.... in a minute.... I promise... While I understand LP's desire for expensive gas. (It's even more vocalized over on the Ebike specific boards), I believe the unintended consequences of very high energy prices is something we would not wish on anybody. Unlike Europe, this country is very spread out and the European mass transit systems are impractical here for quite along time...... The people who can't afford it will be really hurt and some may even starve. Starvation brings street violence etc etc etc. I gotta side with KERF. We need prices to back down not go up. WE DO NOT WANT TO BE LIKE EUROPE!!! YUK.....

Now to get back on topic for this board. .... MY daughter lives in Germany. They pay $8.25 give or take for a gallon of fuel. The roads are crowded with cars. As soon as a person gets sucessful enough to afford a car, he buys one. PERIOD. It is a badge to show off how you finally made it... Just like here. You would think that our little bikes would be all over Germany. WRONG. People 1) Pedal bikes 2) Ride the trains and busses 3) Buy and drive motorcycles 4) Buy and drive Cars. I've shown pictures of my motoredbike to my daughter and she really likes it but in the area where she lives, she would be the tip of the spear. She is already in trouble at her place of work because she thinks and acts like a Texan(Forgivness is easier to get than permission!!) and Germans REALLY don't like that. They are very rigid.(Sorry if I offended someone but my daughter married a GERMAN german so I earned the right. If a place that is paying 8 bucks a gallon have not adopted Mbikes or Ebikes, then why would Americans. The most leftist greenist tree hugging most whacked out environmentalist I met over there all had cars... Go figure. I think Americans would just whine and moan about the prices, probably steal a lot of it but I would bet money that unless there is a big ad campaign to sexify what we are doing and make it cool, our assist technologies will not be adopted by a large percentage of the population.

I just spent a month working in San Francisco. Cool city. Wierd people but that is what is cool about it. I saw lots of bicycles, lots of little Honda Metro's and other scooters, Lots of Prius Automobiles. I glanced at every bike I could, NO EBIKES NO MOTOREDBIKES. Too far outside the box... I guess....

I could see the commercial now. Motoredbiker cruising down the bike trail behind a hottie riding a motoredbike in a bikini. He has "The Look"
Then the commercial ends with "You see many wonderful things on a motoredbike".
Yea. I see where your getting at. Still. Motorcycle sales have gone up in America. I would rather have motorcycles on the streets than soccer moms any day.

I live here, and you're right. (but there are a few motorized bikes,
but mostly electric)

Riding my gopeds and motorized bikes around town, I get harassed by
folks who think they are superior because they drive a Prius,
or ride a non motor powered bicycle (spandex patrol)

The other day, a lady stopped next to me,
and yelled at me, asking me if I was offsetting my "carbon credits"

I wanted to say that I get better mileage that she does, or
that her Prius isn't really saving the world as much as she thinks,
but instead I said,
"Why don't you go suck a #$@."
I wasn't in the mood for a debate.

capturedbyrobots,

My friend, you are in the belly of the beast, love that attitude, stick to your guns. By the way, have you seen the South Park episode about the hybrids, I was rolling on the floor.:)

Even the Lightfoot has a "family" bike! And one with a hard top too.
But I'm kinda partial to the Lightfoot.

Papa
