HT leaking petrol/fuel cap

They way they are packed here, just the cap is packed. The threads are exposed so you can try it out for fit without tearing the packaging.
But Auto's and Motorcycles have a standard when it comes to fuel just like the fuel pumps have a standard when it comes to the size of their fuel nozzle.
It's all universal sized diameter wise. And that size makes all automotive caps too big,at least in the states this is so.

Maybe sumwun can try to ask the manufacturer to figure out a tamper proof looking cap ! ( and a new stainless steel rust-proof tank while they at it )

I wonder if one of the emergency plastic replacement petrol caps that people use when they loose their petrol cap would work?

They might be made to fit a wide variety of sizes.

Price is right. 1 1/2 diameter hole...sounds about right?

The problem with our fuel tanks is the sheetmetal is so thin as to wear down at the area where our cap locks down, and in time this thin sheet metal area gets worn then you have a leak.
So like Bolts Missing is saying,it rally doesn't look too hard getting that original cap assembly off. If you look down your tank it's a tube that runs down a few inches and it almost looks like a press fit.
I tell you what if I had even a tack welder I'd be all over it.

And if you don't need a lock but need a good seal less than 10 bucks:

Sorry Large but those must be Chinese links your posting cos they don't seem to work properly. ;)

That's strange. I made screenshots of them.

I kinda like that second pic now cause the price is right, there's a chain so you don't lose your cap and it seems it would take a bit more than a second to make off with the cap. Also the mounting holes I could silicone around the base then use rivets I would think then a little dab of silicone on top of that.
And the fact that it screws on I bet with this thing you can turn your tank upside down and it won't leak.
Think about this. You can actually lay your bike down on it's side and not have to worry.

IF i can get into that website later i'll take a closer look.I MUCH prefer the idea of the whole filler mechanism(particularly the key locking) but i gotta check freight costs aswell....some things just arn't cost effective.Since i live next to the waterfront there's a few Marine shops so i'll see what they have....ANYTHING Marine has to be top of the range.

BTW...Taa man for posting those pics.
