What and how, if anything, did you use to reinforce the fenders?

Nothing but a small nylon washer and a prayer. From what I've read, they could crack the first day. If they do, I'll replace them with a more solid type. Perhaps something strong enough to hold one of those fender torpedo lights.

I too like the tank in back. I've always thought the stock tank looked too "add-on". The rear tank keeps a "clean look" to the bicycle.

Gorgeous bike. I'm not sure if it's my eyes or not, but is there a fuel filter between your gas tank and the engine? They're only about $5 at an auto store or Home Depot...

As a fellow Kulana owner, I really have to congratulate you Alan!. That is a really is a nice looking motorized bicycle! And the gas tank on the back rack is a really unique look. It fits that bike very well. I like it so much I may try to find that same tank somewhere and use it on my bike.

:D

Thanks.
The in-line filter is located between the downtube and the rear fender. Hard to see in the picture. 2.00 at my Kawi dealer. Also got one in the fuel valve too. Sorry for the blurry pic.

Thanks to everyone.

A small problem ! The tank cap leaks. Gas seeps out from the cap vent hole. A new cap might be tough to locate for this 56 year old tank. I guess this means no more than a half-tank or just keep a rag around. Maybe a could stuff some gauze or something like that in the cap ?
Regardless, she started right up, and within a few minutes was running like a charm. Quieter, and smoother than my first bike. the 36T really moves her. I can't wait for full break-in. I'll be good, I promise.

Glad to hear it runs ok. What is your overall impression of the Moon Dog? Is the build quality good?

For the 100. price, it's a value, but I wish the frame had the welds of the Schwinns. If this frame fails me, I can strip everything off, and use it all on another frame. I guess time will tell. So far, I couldn't be happier.
