A MB Noob from MS :)

Welcome aboard to MBc! sounds like your going to fit right in! yeah trim that gasket I had to, although mine did only last about 2 hours before it was totally destroyed. look forward to seeing some pics!

Hey Sparky,

Boonies ..hah, north ms, tishomingo county.

I trimmed the gasket, seems a little smoother..or might be just be breaking in. :)

Ive already been flagged down by people who want to know what it is and where I got it.

I would have let them take it for a spin, but they had a few beers in them...lol
so i didnt offer.

maybe another day,

Sam

Hey Milo, welcome aboard. Looking forward to seeing photos of your bike sometime. Both of my cruisers (a '46 Columbia and an '80 Western Flyer) are GruBee powered as well. :D

Bummer... I'm on the coast and need some more motoredbikers to ride with!!

Both my intake and exhaust are leaking on my new motored bike. I've read a post somewhere from the old moderator that you can use that thin cardboard from cracker & cereal boxes as a replacement gasket. You'll want to put Permatex 1A on both sides of the gasket for the real deal, however. Original post is here: http://motoredbikes.com/showpost.php?p=61262&postcount=7

People don't flag me down, they just ask "Do you wanna sell that bike?" I've grinned & said no, but I should at least offer them a price, right?

You're smarter than I was. I let my sober friend ride it, and he decided to take it to the parking garage of a casino & ended up almost hitting someone. Prolly would have been ok if he knew the front & back brakes were reversed, but I didn't give him the crash course. There's only one person I will let ride it anymore, because he taught me & let me ride his 4-wheeler & GoPed Riot when I had nothing but a plain old Toyota Corolla.

Anyway... Welcome to the forum, & G'luck with your motored bike adventures!!

Welcome to MBc
I'm also thinking of have the exhaust pipe flange faced to so it fits square.
Try a auto exhaust place for cars, they usually have a flat grinding machine they use to face exhaust manifolds. Failing that, engine recon. shop has them. Might cost a couple of dollars but it be worth it. Use a sealant on the gasket BTW.

All the Best

Ill have to get some of the stickers quay :)

I noticed there is quite a bit of air leak around the exhaust manifold, infact if i cover the exhaust export,,it doesnt kill the engine..so some decent leaks..hah

so far im pretty impressed with it, its atleast as powerfull as my 50cc 2 stroke scooter.

I should have about 90-100 miles on her ,thought I would start giving a 10 second WOT to make sure the rings set.

Does anyone know where the powerband on these engines are...because about 5 seconds into wot on a flat run..it suddenly lerched about(guessing) 3-4 mph faster and really started winding up, i backed off of it, didnt want to risk it..hah but it did feel very much like hitting the powerband on dirtbikes i rode as a kid,

anyways, thanks for all the replys and help everyone.

I think every Chinese 2-stroke needs some form-a-gasket by Permatex on both intake & exhaust.

I would have already ridden it WOT by now. I've run it wide open for quite a few minutes at a time, and I prolly just got to 100 miles, too. Just don't do it when the engine's still cold, and definitely don't do it when going down a hill.

2-strokes are more powerful than 4-strokes from lower rpms all the way to the higher end. They're just barely more powerful in the low rpms... but where 4-strokes start to lose power in the higher rpms, the 2-stroke power plateaus. This upper end is the largest difference between 2-stroke & 4-stroke power, and it's also the reason why we should avoid running 2-strokes WOT while going downhill... 2-strokes run with high enough RPMs as it is, when going downhill you don't need to work your engine faster than the amazing number of RPMs it sees on flat land.
