Yesterday I ordered a friction drive kit from Staton with a Robin-Subaru Four Cycle 33.5 cc. I'll be putting it on my Mongoose 21 speed mountain bike. I've ridden my bike to the office a couple of times, but I work in a in a business office and I don't want to be known as the stinky & sweaty guy.

I've been snooping around the forums for a few days and appreciate all the great info. I'm looking forward to riding and posting. I'll post pics when I get my kit installed.

Welcome to the forum. Sounds like you have a nice kit coming. When you get the engine on the bike you won't be known as the stinky, sweaty guy, lol. Welcome! This is a great place with lots of very nice people. They are really good about answering questions (but want you to search before you ask). I've sorta made myself at home here and have met some really nice people. Hope the same will happen to you. If I can ever help, PM me or email me at the addy that's in my sig.

Have a great one!

Thanks CrabDance!

How is that Kulana Moon Dog? I was looking at an orange one just like yours the other day. I've been thinking I'd like a cruiser instead of my mountain bike, but I want to start out with the mountain bike to be sure I like the motorized ride.

Actually, I think I'd like a recumbent. But I've never ridden one so I can't say that for sure. I guess I ought to go try one out.

Hi Tracy - welcome.
I have a Kulana, too, the BLUE DOG. If you have a mtn bike that has full suspension, USE IT! Just change out the handlebars so you can ride more comfortably. I'm spending lots of money trying to make mine as comfy as my Pacific Mtn. Bike.

I would stay away from the recumbants...I was backing out of my driveway just 2 days ago, and almost took out someone and their little dog, because they're so low that you can't see them through the rearview mirror. I have back problems, and I know that would be a good solution, but visibility is #1 for me. I have a wife and kid, and they need me...

Thanks CrabDance!

Hi Tracy,
I like the Moon Dog... Mark has one too but his is blue! He's got the only blue one I've seen. Pick out whatever bike is most comfortable as long as the kit will fit in it. Comfort should be your main concern. One of the first things I did with my moon dog was get a new seat. It's much better now :D

Yep, there's a nice big comfy Schwinn seat at Target for $20...definitely worth it.
I looked at the "bench" seat, but no springs. Gotta protect what's left of my lower back disks...

you betcha Mark... don't need that pounding on the spine anymore. We are not spring chickens :D I might be looking into a new fork before this is all over. Who knows?

I'm waiting for my Springers to arrive from Spooky...local bike shop said they'd install it for $30...I'll let them. It will cost me more for the tools. At the same time, we'll re-lube bearings, etc.

Great Mark! Glad you are getting your fork. And it's worth it to pay someone $30 to do it for you. At least I know it is for me (not being the mechanical sort). Two more days and I should have my engine kit! Can't wait... really.. can't wait. It's killing me, sigh. Once it gets here I have no idea in the world of what I'm going to do or how to install it :).
