riding in the bike lane, 16mph, as two cops were walking across the st. to a call, one gives the "whats up?" gesture/shoulder shrug and asks "you got a license?" i turned around, met them, and turned off the motor.
"dont need one." i politely replied.
"is that 50cc?"
"actually no. see? it says 48cc."
("48cc" engraved magneto cover, courtesy of Spooky)
"with a helper motor, you're not supposed to be in the bike lane."
"i know you dont want to hear this, but thats where you're wrong. AZ HB2796. i have a copy with me, that was actually given to me personally by the man who wrote the law, AZ Representative Tom Prezelski. would you like to see it?"
"if you just want to play games, have a seat over there and i'll talk to you when i'm done here."he said, with more than just a little...steam

i was on my way to my shop to do some work on the bike. i figured this bench right here will work just fine. removed rear wheel, removed a link and a half, got rid of the roller bearing/idler arm. got the chain tension dead-nuts perfect.

after an hour, i got tired of waiting, so i made a note on the law "read #'s 5 and 6. have a nice day." and placed it under the windshield wiper of his car.
he watched me do it as he handled that other deal, and said nothing.

my point is: that the 'old me' would have cussed, berated him, and done everything just short of picking a fight.
instead, killing them with kindness leaves a better impression of MotoredBikers.

good on ya for the kindness thing, but if they wernt so kind they could have pulled the head & measured the bore & confiscated the bike. i run a happytime to for now & low profile is the key, pedal a lot!!! & dont say oink around officer friendly!

These guys were actually doing something else, but they took the time to hassle you and then tell you to wait for them?

Now I just KNOW they've got to have better things to do.

Yeah & I hate it, when they put their knee on the back of my neck,,,,sheesh,,, I'm face down, on the ground, anyways...lmao!

wanna know whut's really fun? I always ask 'em if we're gonna be on "Cops". ( cause if we are... I wanna take my shirt off, NOW. lmao....sorry, all  )

Nice job, spunout!

way to represent!!!!

Cops in tucson are paid well and have amazing benefits, they should be able to attract a more professional work force. Testify at the city council meeting.

Slightly different issues -- but -- I have been carrying some paperwork while I ride also.. It seems like -- with the pooolice -- we just never know -- what to expect --- I drove through a neighboring town yesterday -- KNOWN FOR THEIR VERY STRICK LAWS -- yes - the state laws are not good enough for them -- they have even more -- I DID A LOT OF PEDALLING !!!! Happy Riding from - Mountainman

A good example of abuse of power and "some" of them not knowing the laws concerning motorized bikes, mopeds and motorcycles. "Some" of them are on a major power trip and want you to quake in fear of their presence. Remember you are a citizen and have rights...and acted like one. Good work!
