Hello everyone,
I'm new here, but have been browsing for quite a while. I just finished my first build with a Grubee Skyhawk 48cc kit on a Schwinn Point Beach cruiser. The thing looks great. I was so excited to go for the first run, but i can't get it to start! I can engage the clutch and it goes put put put, but it never kicks over. As soon as I pull the clutch back in...nothing. After searching the forum I have done the following:

Took off kill switch
CDI direct connect to engine wires
Full choke
pressed primer a few times
changed spark plug

No change :( It still won't turn over. I'll mention a couple things, if they could make any difference. First, the clutch is really tight. After its engaged, I have to pull really hard to get it back. Well actually thats all I can think of. Although thats annoying, it doesn't seem to be related to the problem at hand. The clutch is engaging, just not turning over. I spent 3 irritating days getting the thing together and now I think I'll pull all my hair out if it doesn't fall out itself first. Please if you have any suggestions, help.

Thanks,
Keith

Hey mitch, i'll check that in the morning. By the way, I am supposed to remove the gold threaded cap on the top of the spark plug so the threads show, right? Thanks for the advice :)

if it is just the little screw on-on top of the plug. that is what the plug cap hooks to. no need to remove it. sometimes during install the other end of the plug wire comes loose in coil. try to tighten it by turning it to right. good luck. your location?

Thanks again :) I have that screw off right now because it seemed like the spark plug cap wouldn't connect to it right. Maybe that could be a problem. It seems likely that the problem is I'm not getting a spark. I'll test it in the morning.

PS-I'm in Cincinnati, OH

Unfortunately, I had no one to help me check the spark plug today. I can't hold up the bike, kick the pedal and closely examine the spark plug at the same time by myself. However, I did replace the spark plug and plug wire and boot and it sputters a bit even after I disengage the clutch, but still no start :( Now I'm thinking it might be the carb , but I'll check that when I'm sure the spark is there.

Open the cover in front of your drive sproket and turn your Magneto a couple of times (it will be difficult to turn). Then try it...

BTW the thing your supposed to turn is right in the middle and it turns around the pin. Try it i guarantee it will work...

On mine, It must be removed first, or you won't have a proper connection.
