Thanks! I'm having a lot of fun with the bike. I had thought about making the toptube into a tank, but I would have had to cut the whole bike apart to weld up the ends. I'd love to scratch build one now that I have learned a bit about it...

that may not be the case, a lot of the top tubes like yours are already sealed on the ends and just need two holes drilled. one for the filler cap and the other going to the carb. for the next bike I build that is one of the things I will be looking for, a top tube that I can make into a gas tank.

Yup - that would be cool. This was my first build, so I'm definitely a novice. I'm still working through getting it legal (I got plates out of DMV, but the insurance is proving to be a challenge), but I would like to build another one - more customized...

So I ended up getting insurance from Progesssive. I did it online as a moped. I used the frame # for a vin w/ DMV, so I did the same online. I had to add 0's to the front of the # to make it work, but it took.

Time will tell if they kick it back, but for $75 I have an insurance card to show "Officer Friendly" should the need arise...
