chain getting bunched up... (help)

everything ok

My neighbor helped me put my chain back together and everything is happy now (including me). I now have a new master link, my back wheel has been aligned and my motor is now stable thanks to tightening up some nuts.

Long story short. It's working now and I'm happy about that. I only made a short trip with it but I'm going to make a longer one in just a little while. Keep you fingers crossed.

I'm having the exact same problem. I reduced the slack on my chain and that also seemed to help. But now the chain is trying to come off the rear sprocket. What steps did you use to align it better?

Take a look from the back of your bicycle and see if the chain and sprocket are aligned. They probably are not (mine wasn't anyway). What I did was get a tape measure out and measure the distance from the rim to the bike frame on both sides. I wanted to make them equal (they were not) So I loosened on side of the tire bolt and pulled the tire over to where both sides would be equal from rim to frame. Then I tightened it back up. That's all I did and it made a world of difference.

Hope this helps.

Well they weren't lined up for sure. The stupid chain tensioner was causing the problem. Like other people it was getting pulled inward. I ended up going and getting new bolts and nuts to hold it on. I was able to get it lined up and tightened down and able to ride for the first time! This thing cracks me up. Thanks for the help everyone.

you dont really want your chain sagging i think its sappose to be 1 inch clearance not totally positive but you wont want it to tight.
