What are you packing?

Here is my kit in a tool roll from Harbor Freight.

From left to right:

1) 10 feet of rope- got the idea from Large Filipino, you never know when you will have to suspend either end of your bike in the air (great idea Large).

2) Electrical tape- to make it easier to travel, it is wrapped on a 1" wide piece of aluminum- 10 to 12 feet, very compact.

3) Zip ties- long ones, you can make a long one short, doesn't work the other way.

4) Tire gauge, tube patches and valve tool.

5) Tire removal tools.

6) Small slip joint pliers.

7) Small vise grips (any number of uses).

8) Cresent wrench.

9) through 13) Combination wrenches (more sizes, less space), 14-15, 9/16-5/8, 12-13, 10-11, 8-9

Second row- on the belt, not in the roll:

14) Leatherman- don't get a cheap imitation. They are well worth the price and work well. A cheap one will convince you combination tools are worthless. They are not, but the cheap ones are useless.

15) Cell phone

Then you can see where the roll goes- attached with three mini bungees.

Also, in the hollow area at the back of the "tank", a spare tube is bungeed to the frame in there.

Lastly, I have a frame pump mounted to mimic a manual oil pump shown in pic 3.

WOW! I need to ride with you that way you can carry the tools to fix my bike.

I used less than that to assemble mine, but we all know how thorough you are. I need to re-evaluate my back pocket tool box ( crescent wrench and lineman pliers ).

P228 Sig Sauer with 10 in the clip and 1 in the chamber plus the following:
1. Spare tube and patch kit
2. Allen wrenches
3. 10mm wrench and wrench to take rear tire off.
4. Adj wrench
5. mini screwdrivers
6. spare plug, CDI,
7. Tons of 10mm nuts/bolts spare intake/exahust studs and gaskets (haven't had to use any of these since switching to US made bolts and using metric couplers with locktite)
8. Spare chain master link assembly
9. Spare needle valve with eclip assembly
10. spare fuel tubing (used to blow out a clogged filter in the petcock assembly..I now remove those filters)
11. 2 pair of latex or vinyl gloves
12. small pack of handiwipes
13. A couple of papertowels to wipe fuel off of tank
14. 2 oz of castor oil
15. Matches
16. 1/2 empty bottle of vodka and a men's magazine <--sorry, an old holdover form my army aviator days. I'd carry a bottle and men's mag in my flight bag to give the accident investigators something to think about if I was ever in a fatal crash ;-)

Packing...I heard that you can actually pack heat in AZ. Provided it's holstered and out in the open. Is that true?
Makes for a more polite society.

That is definately true Mark. A bit unsettling if you're not used to seeing it. This is still the wild wild west out here.

I wouldn't feel unsettled at all. Colorado has same law and everyonce in a while I'll put my holster on and wear my gun in public on the way to the range to get a couple hours of shooting in-I didn't live in Denver. It only freaks out the Californians who ruined their state and decided to do the same to Colorado. Natives don't mind it at all.

Humm, I carry just about every tool I used to build the bike including a small ball pen hammer and the crank tool. I strapped a bicycle pump on the bike and carry two extra tubes. A first aid kit, cell phone, extra cigs, batters and extra spark plug/bolts. My helmet and *** looking yellow vest for night riding. I rid a lot at night and about 20 miles a day so I need everything just in case.

I dont know maybe a lil over board.

I think I used every tool I own to build my bike. Don't ask about the ceramic tile saw...wasn't pretty. ;)
