Do you start with carburetor side first or throttle twist grip? Either way cable seems to be too short to connect on other end. Must be a certin procedure that I can't figure out. Any help appreciated.

I have read a few posts on here with the throttle cable being too short from the get go...

When I set mine up, I secured the throttle inside the carb first, and then ran it up to the throttle grip.

Even on mine, it was a challenge to get it in there, thought for sure it was too short.

I usually put on throttle lever or grip first
then work back to the engine

since it sounds as if you may be short
no excess hanging at bars ect

if it's just a little to short
can you cut off some of the cable houseing - is there enough lenth ?
taking the cable out - first of course

but - the inside cable must at least be able to make it to your engine

Thanks for the reply mountinman. That sounds like a good idea. I would only have to cut of about an inch of the outer cable. Wounder if you can buy those metal jackets they crimp on the end to dress it up a bit. Mybe won't even need one. Nice forum. Keep up the good work.

All bike shops stock and sell the ends for a $ dime. There are a few diff sizes so take a piece of the cable with you. Ive purchased lot of them from there. terrence

Thanks terrence. Got the throttle installed. Looks good and feels like I think it should. I can't get along with out this forum. I really enjoy it

I just built one where the throttle housing was not finished correctly. Had to drill out the excess plastic in the part that the cable comes through or I wasn't able to connect the cable.

The area above the threaded hole where the cable comes through needs to be clear for the handle to rotate back far enough.

Had to ponder that one for a bit to figure out what was wrong.

Standard Chineese quality control... there is none.

Nope, you can use a wire snip and pinch ever so slightly. Most times there
tight and push on snug without crimping.

yes - and for that final touch

just a little bit of grease on those cable slide points

because - usually - that's the exact point - where a cable will start to show wear

makes for long cable life..

so we can -----
