My first wipeout on my MB...

sounds deliberate to me... there are people around my way that would do that on purpose just for a laugh..

Hope you recover ok..

I'll tell you, I woke up this morning and I thought my shoulder was broken it hurt so bad!

It is starting to loosen up now so I am thinking all is well, just badly bruised! 38 years of life and I still have never broken a bone!

I was wondering if they pulled over quickly maybe to ask me about the bike or something... hard to think someone would bring deliberate harm to me or anyone else like that. I only wish I was able to get the plate number from the car...

Worst part about this is it is now Sunday, it is sunny and a lovely 72 degrees and I can not ride the MB yet because I did not go out and find a metric allen wrench to tighten up the handlebars.... this is the worst part actually!

Stay safe and watch those cars...

Hope it wont be long before ya ride again. Bad luckm is that guy in Canada in ctitical condition from rairoad trackes and a bunch of members complaining he is spoiling for them ya write. hope recovery is swift

It is a shame the guy in canada is in critical condition and maybe he wouldn't be if he were wearing a helmet like the laws say he was supposed to be. Yes i feel bad for the guy but at the same time who's fault is it.

I would rather he survive and none of us ever be able to ride again but i'd also rather he live and we ride.

Its definatly his fault on the helmet being how the stats are on your side with a helmet. Im just saying its us who are in charge of making motorized bike laws. Letters, and such at people in charge for a start. this fellow bike rider is not resposible for weather you ride or not legally. Im a little sensitive about it seeing how Im still in a local hospital draining my chest cavity since my accident on my Dax Titan. Broken shoulder to be worked on later.Whizzer will have to wait till spring for me to ride it again. Blurb in paper about man needing medical attention.

If you broke your collar bone you would know it instantly! I've broke both of mine. You wouldn't have been able to get home under your own power if it was broke. The next day is always the worst day after injury.

Something else comes to mind.

We might be wise to make sure there is some (hopefully small) contact between ourselves and the cars that do this sort of stuff to us. That way when the jerk takes off, he's now committed a hit-and-run.

Exactly. Trade paint - and even fist marks into sheet metal if necessary to 'cushion' the impact. It's like almost hitting a deer with a car. Insurance companies call it your fault if you don't actually hit the deer and you damage your car anyway. The proof is in the contact.

Anybody pulling that stunt on me won't get away unscathed if I can't brake my way out of it.

I've had a car drive straight at me only to turn away at the last moment.I now have an air horn in a can like the ones used to start sporting events. It gets the idiots attention.

Oooh, i'd watch it with that, you might get a little more than a bump if you start beating on peoples cars.

We have people here on campus that grab onto bumpers for a "free" speed boost. I'll keep it short, but bad things happen. Like brake checking, curb smacking, and getting boxed in. These activities end very badly for the guy on the bike. The town spent a lot of money putting in a bike lane for a reason.

The police tend agree with the cars because its viewed as getting hit in the rear, and generally its the person that does the hitting that gets to pay the insurance bill.

However, I sympathize with those who play nice. I'm a 4 way on this, walking, driving, motorcycle, and biking. Anyway you play it, lights help a LOT. Especially blinking red rear lights. Staying about 3 feet from the curb helps me see bicyclists when i'm driving because they are then within my immediate view. I do the same with a motorcycle and my bike in town.

When my motorcycle blew up and tossed me off, the person behind me stopped to help me get the bike off the road and make sure i was mostly ok. He had to be at work or something and had to leave. I greatly appreciated the few minutes. He found me later that day by chance and bought me lunch. Then about 20 cars went by gawking as i stumbled around with shredded pants and bloody hands. It's amazing how people don't care

Above all, being able to go the speed limit helps the most :D Luckily its 25 mph max here unless you hit the highways

I agree, and certainly didn't mean to imply that one should take the offensive in any way other than to defend yourself. I'm thinking of it more in terms of what is least likely to cause me injury, an open handed deflection with my fingers and palms, or the back of my Kevlar armored gloves in line with my wrist joint. I learned long ago while snowboarding that the wrist always takes the worst of it when you fall palms first.

i doubt it was an intentional attack. it would take a pretty cold hearted person to do that. id be more undertsanding if it was some dumbass jerking off to the side quick to get the cell phone or anything..

this girl i know laura, is just like that. its actually really really scary to drive with her. she will turn around and chat with the back and not look at the road at all... people likeher should not drive.
